Seahorse TH in the Pines : Willseyville, NY

Of our three tiny houses at Bugs in a Jar Farm, Seahorse in the Pines offers the most seclusion and privacy for those wanting to get away from the crowds. As the name implies, it also offers deep shade most of the hot summer. Relax in the hammock under the pines or on the private sunbathing deck, and enjoy the hilltop breeze.

As the tiny house movement has built more momentum, we’ve seen them popping up everywhere. Lately one of the most exciting collaborations has been between the tiny house and the short-term rental market. We all love a good Airbnb or VRBO but now we have the option of living out our tiny house dream even if it’s just for a weekend. This new series of Envy will feature these tiny house/vacation rental love children. We hope you like it!

Seahorse TH in the Pines : Willseyville, New York

What does Sam want you to know about himself and the property?

My name is Sam Mitchell. I bought Bugs In a Jar farm in 2019, and have spent the past two years restoring it to its former glory. Seahorse in the Pines is the farthest tiny house from the main house, the community kitchen, and the full bathroom, though it is still a short, easy walk to the main house, and there is a driveway that leads most of the way up the hill, with its own private parking space. It is set in a shady grove of white pines, so offers the coolest campsite in the hot summer.

What are the accommodations like?

The large deck is totally private for sunbathing. There is an outhouse available for those who don’t want to make the walk to the community bathroom. Each tiny house comes with its own picnic table, fire ring, and grill. There is a 2000-watt battery powered generator that offers a limited amount of power (charge batteries, lights, fan, coffeepot, etc.). Guests will have the tiny house, the deck, the outhouse, the picnic table, and the firepit to themselves. There is a shared community kitchen and bathroom a short walk away to the main cabin.

What do others have to say about their experience?

“This was the best choice we made to stay for a night. We were four friends, so booked the cabin and Sam was nice to set up the tent for us before we arrived. All the cabins are really nice in their own ways. This place is just so beautiful and a hidden gem. There is a little pond and creek on the property. I’d recommend to reach when it’s not dark just like one would for any location to camp. It is in the middle of trees, there is a firepit and a hammock and a table everything just fine. If you’re looking for a camping experience without any gears or even a place to stay close to nature, this place could not be more comfortable. I’ll definitely come back if it is on my way next time. Thank you Sam.” Savjot
