Built By High School Students In Floyd County Tech Center!
When college isn’t an option, technical school is a great alternative. Ultimately because trade skills follow the student for a lifetime. Building a tiny home includes many skills. It requires knowledge, patience and determination. Those are just the personal factors that contribute to technical skills. To build your skills up you must nurture them. Due to the dedication made to this home by this team, I have decided to name it the Floyd.
“To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge.”

More importantly, they had clear goals. It is just as important to have goals as it is to have skill. The confidence in what they were doing shows in every inch of this home. Which in turn, means they had an excellent mentor. Guidance and an open mind are key to learning new skills. Additionally, the mentor provides the goals that are reachable. Furthermore, they push student to succeed. They know that their student can do the task with the right instruction.
My favorite feature of this home is the two-toned wood. The dark wood pops against the lighter wood. Black metal accents give a rustic look to this home. This team was able to provide a structurally sound home that also looks beautiful. For a building team that was learning new skills, it is something to celebrate.
How The Team Relates To You?
Even if you do not love this home, consider it an inspiration piece. A team that lacked experience built this home. Yet, it still turned out amazing because they had passion and focus. If you are passionate enough about building your own tiny home, then you surely can accomplish it. Even if you’re unsure, there is plenty of information available to help guide you. Give yourself clear goals and focus on the project one step at a time.
